We are presently recruiting for a Quality Engineer who will thrive in this culture.

Guardian Industries began as the Guardian Glass Company in 1932 when we manufactured windshields for the automotive industry.  In 1970, we opened our first glass manufacturing plant in Carleton, Michigan, and began producing float glass.  Since then, Guardian has added 22 float lines and several fabrication plants around the world, diversified its automotive and building products businesses and formulated three distinct business units – Glass, Automotive and Building Products.  Today, Guardian employs over 19,000 people and operates facilities throughout North America, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

As a division of a major international glass manufacturer, Tier-1 supplier, we produce quality mirrored, tempered and laminated glass products.  This position is located in our Auburn, Indiana location.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following background and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 3-5 years experience
  • Aid in the design, installation, and evaluation of quality processes, procedures, and statistical technicians to be used in the production operations.    
  • Aid in the design and/or specification of inspection and testing methods and/or equipment.    
  • Analyze the production and service limitations, specifications, and standards for the customer base.    
  • Interfaces with all other engineering components within the Company and with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues.    
  • Facilitates corrective action and root cause problem solving activities, and takes a primary role to insure countermeasures are effective.    
  • Experience with TS-16949
  • APQP, PPAP, IMDS, FMEA, and Control Plan experience with Chrysler, GM and/or Ford
  • SPC experience
  • DOE or Taguchi experience a plus
  • Proven abilities in managing corrective and/or preventive action plans
  • Project management skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work through issues to find win-win solutions
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to set and prioritize goals
  • Lead by example with a strong work ethic and good attendance
  • 10% travel to customers required with proven ability to manage OEM customer concerns, including on-site problem resolution.
